"8 mm. Dreams" is a short experimental video which is completely comprised of the home movies that Brooke's father, Joe Maroldi, shot in the 1960s.   At 76 and married for 50 years, Joe is still an avid photographer, family filmmaker and jitterbug dance contest winner.  His love for his family is evident in every frame of the movies he shot.

Brooke poured through hours of original film, digitized it on an Avid Xpress and created a multi-layered montage of memories set to haunting music.  It is both an homage to her parents, Laura & Joe, and a sisterly nudge to her brothers Vinny & Tony.  KidsWave.jpg (5976 bytes)

Beyond the personal tributes, "8 mm. Dreams" is a meditation on the elliptical, non-linear nature of memory and acts as a view of Italian-American life rarely seen in most popular culture portrayals, the ones which fill our heads with images of violence and cultural stereotypes.
